Contractor Website Options
As a contractor, you may want a website as
an easy way for your clients to find you. Promoting your website
domain name is easier for consumers to remember than phone numbers.
Having a website gives your company credibility over your competition.
Here's what you need in order to get your
own website.
- You need to get a domain name (or URL).
Domain names are purchased on an annual basis for $15-$19 per year.
If you company name is Jarvis Exteriors, you may consider
jarvisexteriors.com or a more creative name such as chicagoroofer.com.
Think of several domain names that appeal to you and go to
www.whois.net to check if that domain
name is available.
- You will also need to get a hosting
company to host (or store) your web pages on their web servers.
Hosting is normally $10 to $20 per per month.
- You will then need to develop the site
using web development software of some sort.
If you opt for the recommended wire-frame
solution shown below, you will not need to secure any of the items listed
above as they all come as part of the standard service.
- You develop your own site. If you
know how to send an email, you will know how to create your own site using
the easy to use customer administrative tools.
- Very professional and engaging layouts.
- Customization of color, font and images
not a problem.
- No waiting on changes.
- Site is up in as soon as you create the
content.
- Monthly fee includes hosting cost.
- Unlimited Email
- Included Domain Name.
- Really, there are no drawbacks if you
like the overall layout of the wire-frame. You will not be able to
manipulate the layout, but if you find a layout that works for you, then
this is absolutely the best choice.
- For $100 down and $49/month, you
receive...
- 6 pages (1 home, 4 content & 1 contact
us form page)
- unlimited email accounts
- hosting
- domain name
- assistance with logo design
- admin tools to make changes
- Most contractors do not need more than
what is offered in the business package. If you do want to have more
pages, you can. The $69/month plan gives you 20 pages instead of 6
pages. And, the $99/month plan gives you unlimited pages.
In case you're wondering, the two other
options are using templates or hiring a developer to develop a site from
